Afognak Native Corporation is one of thirteen Alaska Native Regional Corporations created under the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act of 1971. In 1999, as timber development opportunities began to wane, Afognak launched its government contracting business, participating in the federal government’s 8(a) program for small disadvantaged businesses. Afognak’s Alutiiq subsidiary employs over 5,000 people worldwide and provides a variety of services to the federal government, including security, logistics/operations and maintenance, information technology, construction, and training.
