McCarthy Mortenson NBAF A Joint Venture

In September 2009, the Department of Homeland Security awarded a contract for preconstruction phase services for the proposed National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility (NBAF) to McCarthy Mortenson NBAF A Joint Venture (MCMJV), composed of McCarthy Building Companies and Mortenson Construction. NBAF, located adjacent to the Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine and the Biosecurity Research Institute, will be a 707,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art biosafety level 3 and 4 research facility. The facility will conduct research, develop vaccines and anti-virals, and provide enhanced diagnostic capabilities for the purpose of protecting the United States from foreign animal, zoonotic, and emerging diseases.
