Paraffin Wax Price Fixing

The European Commission imposed fines on nine companies for participating in a paraffin wax cartel in the European Economic Area (EEA) between 1992 and 2005 in violation of the EC Treaty’s ban on cartels and restrictive business practices. Royal Dutch Shell also participated in the cartel but was not fined because it revealed the existence of the cartel to the Commission. See related Exxon Mobil instance, “Paraffin Wax Price Fixing.”
