DeKort v. Integrated Coast Guard Systems

Michael DeKort, a former engineer for Lockheed Martin on the Deepwater program, filed a False Claims Act lawsuit against Integrated Coast Guard Systems (ICGS) and its joint partners, Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman. He alleged that deficiencies in the 123-foot patrol boat project of the Deepwater program posed critical security and safety issues and will cost the government millions of dollars. In October 2010, DeKort settled with Lockheed for an undisclosed amount. DeKort was also awarded $139,016 in costs and attorney fees. He continues to pursue claims against Northrop and ICGS alleging design defects as well as fraud underlying the awarding of the original Deepwater contract in 2002.
