Military Vehicle Battery False Claims

BAE Systems and three other companies paid the federal government $5.5 million to settle alleged False Claims Act violations involving the sale of a battery used in gun turrets on military vehicles. BAE Systems, Inc. and BAE Systems Tactical Vehicle Systems LP, along with M.K. Battery, Inc., East Penn Manufacturing Co., Inc., and NPC Robotics, Inc. allegedly provided the government a battery that had less capacity than what the contract required. East Penn manufactured the battery, which was sold to NPC and installed by BAE. East Penn allegedly made changes to the design of the battery that negatively affected its performance without informing the government.
