New York City Cigarette Tax Settlement

FedEx Ground Package System Inc. paid New York City $2.4 million to settle allegations that between 2006 and 2009, it illegally delivered approximately 70 tons of untaxed cigarettes that had been ordered through a Kentucky-based company called CigarettesDirect2U.com. FedEx Ground also agreed to cooperate with any future investigations of shippers who attempt to use its services to deliver untaxed cigarettes.
