EEOC v. FedEx Ground Package System (Discrimination Against the Hearing Impaired)

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) claims that FedEx Ground Package System violated the Americans with Disabilities Act nationwide by failing to provide needed accommodations to deaf and hearing-impaired employees and job applicants. The EEOC claims that FedEx failed to provide such accommodations as American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation and closed-captioned training videos during the mandatory initial tour of the facilities and new-hire orientation. The EEOC also alleges FedEx failed to provide such accommodations during staff, performance, and safety meetings and refused to provide needed equipment substitutions and modifications for deaf and hard-of-hearing package handlers.
