Young v. Wackenhut (Violation of FMLA)

Jacqueline Young alleged that her former employer, The Wackenhut Corporation, violated her rights under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA). Young took an unauthorized leave of absence for maternity leave and was fired several months later when she tried to return to work. She claimed Wackenhut had never informed her of her rights under the FMLA. In February 2013, the Court granted Young’s motion for summary judgment after determining that Wackenhut had not properly notified her of her rights under the FMLA. Wackenhut filed an appeal.
