Whistleblower Retaliation at the Hanford Nuclear Site (Walter Tamosaitis)

Dr. Walter Tamosaitis, the former manager of research and technology at the Hanford Nuclear Site, claimed that URS Energy and Construction — subcontractor to Bechtel National at the Hanford Waste Treatment Plant — removed him from his position in retaliation for raising safety and technical concerns. In August 2015, Tamosaitis and URS (acquired by AECOM in 2014) agreed to settle the lawsuit for $4.1 million. The settlement agreement did not include an admission of liability or wrongdoing.
