San Diego Marine Terminal Railway Facility Cleanup

San Diego Unified Port District filed a complaint against Lockheed Martin alleging the company breached lease agreements on city property around San Diego Bay by failing to return the properties to their pre-existing condition. The city claims it continues to incur costs to clean up hazardous substances at Lockheed’s marine terminal facilities. In August 2017, it was reported that Lockheed agreed to pay $5.8 million for current and future cleanup costs. General Dynamics, which leased the site for a period of time, agreed to reimburse Lockheed $850,000 for any contamination it caused. Under the settlement agreement, both companies denied any liability.
