Whistleblower Retaliation at Hanford Nuclear Site (Curtis Hall)

Curtis Hall alleged that Bechtel National fired him in 2005 for raising safety concerns about the Waste Treatment Plant at the Hanford Site in Washington. The Department of Energy Office of Hearings and Appeals (OHA) found that Hall made protected disclosures that were a contributing factor to the adverse personnel action, and that Bechtel did not meet its burden of proving that it would have taken the action in the absence of Hall’s protected disclosures. The OHA ordered Bechtel to reinstate Hall to his former position, provide him with lost wages and benefits, and reimburse his legal fees and expenses.
