Unlawfully Obtained Proprietary Information

In June 2007, it was reported that Verizon South Africa paid an undisclosed sum to Internet Solutions, a subsidiary of IT company Dimension Data (Didata) to settle a case in which Verizon was accused of abetting the theft of sensitive and confidential Internet Solutions documents. Although the settlement is confidential, Verizon reportedly paid Internet Solutions less than R10 million (US$1.4 million).
