New Jersey Natural Resource Damage

New Jersey State Superior Court Judge Ross Anzaldi ruled that ExxonMobil was liable for causing a public nuisance by polluting the waterways, wetlands and marshes on and near its former refinery sites in Bayonne and Linden. The court in the natural resource damage lawsuit filed on behalf of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection found that ExxonMobil contaminated both sites through active disposal and accidental spilling of hazardous substances, causing damages in an amount that will be determined at a later trial.
