NASSCO Clean Air Act Lawsuit
The United States filed a civil complaint under the Clean Air Act against Coltec Industries Inc., and the National Steel and Shipbuilding Company (NASSCO), a subsidiary of General Dynamics. The lawsuit alleges that Coltec’s Fairbanks Morse Engine Division (FME) violated the Act by manufacturing and selling Category-3 marine compression-ignition engines that were not covered by an Environmental Protection Agency-issued certificate of conformity and that NASSCO violated the Act by installing those engines in ships it built and sold in the United States.
