Improper Payment of Provider Claims

The California Department of Managed Health Care (DMHC) imposed nearly $5 million in fines against the seven largest health plans in the state, including Health Net, for violations in paying claims to health care providers statewide. A state audit found Health Net engaged in unfair payment practices between April and June 2008. Health Net’s share of the fine was $750,000.
