Failure to Provide Accurate Beneficiary Information
The Department of Health and Human Services Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) imposed a civil penalty of $55,880 on Humana Insurance Company for failing to provide accurate information to Medicare beneficiaries in Contract Year 2010 Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) and Evidence of Coverage (EOC) documents. CMS determined that 5,588 Humana members received ANOC/EOC materials containing an incorrect statement regarding prescription drug coverage.
