Heath v. AT&T (E-Rate Program False Claims)
Todd Heath filed False Claims Act lawsuits against AT&T alleging the company defrauded the Federal Communications Commission’s E-Rate program, which uses funds collected from customers to provide Internet service to schools and libraries. In two separate suits, Heath claims AT&T and several of its subsidiaries violated the program’s rule requiring telecommunications carriers to offer discounted rates to participating entities by overcharging local school districts and libraries. He also claims the company tried to conceal the overbilling.
