Pascoag, Rhode Island MTBE Lawsuit

The citizens of the Town of Pascoag, Rhode Island and the Rhode Island Water District filed a class-action lawsuit against ExxonMobil after the town’s well water supply was contaminated by methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) believed to have leaked from the tanks at a local Mobil gas station in 2001. The lawsuit settled for $7 million in May 2012.
