Gokare P.C., et al. v. Federal Express (Customer Overcharging)

A class-action lawsuit alleged that FedEx violated the Federal Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) by systematically overcharging its customers. The lawsuit, brought on behalf of a nationwide class of consumers, alleged that FedEx charged residential delivery fees for deliveries to non-residential addresses, such as government offices and commercial office buildings and warehouses. The lawsuit claimed that the overcharging occurred in millions of instances. In July 2013, FedEx and a class of about 200,000 plaintiffs settled the case for $21.5 million.
