Wallace v. FedEx (Family and Medical Leave Act Violation)

Former FedEx employee Tina Wallace alleged that FedEx infringed her rights under the Family and Medical Leave Act. Wallace suffered from various health problems that made it necessary for her to take medical leave. FedEx fired Wallace in September 2007 when she failed to report back to work after a leave of absence, but a jury found that FedEx failed to adequately explain to her the consequences of not timely submitting a medical certification form. The jury awarded Wallace $173,000 in damages for lost compensation and benefits.
