Misclassification of Workers at Petaluma Coast Guard Facility
Lockheed Martin paid $201,000 in back wages to 18 workers to settle allegations that it violated prevailing wage laws at the Coast Guard training facility near Petaluma, California. The Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division determined that, between May 2011 and October 2012, Lockheed improperly classified technical instructors/course developers in job categories that did not reflect the duties they performed. The workers were underpaid as a result of the misclassifications, in violation of the Service Contract Act.
