Louisiana Zoloft Deceptive Marketing Lawsuit

The Louisiana Attorney General filed a lawsuit against Pfizer alleging the company misled the public about the efficacy of the antidepressant drug Zoloft (known generically as sertraline). The lawsuit alleges Pfizer engaged in false, misleading, unfair, and deceptive marketing, promotion, and sale of Zoloft, costing the state Medicaid program millions of dollars. Among the claims is that Pfizer engaged in a “ghostwriting” campaign in which articles about Zoloft submitted to medical journals by seemingly independent scientific researchers had actually been authored by Pfizer or a company hired by Pfizer.
