AIG Europe Limited et al. v. Northrop Grumman (Defective Tugboat Steering Mechanism)
Five insurance companies and a building materials company sued Northrop Grumman over a collision between the tugboat Doris Moran and the barge Alexandra on the Cape Cod Canal in August 2013. The collision caused more than $4.6 million in damage to the barge and its cargo. The lawsuit alleges the collision was caused by the failure of the tugboat’s steering mechanism, which was designed by Northrop’s Sperry Marine subsidiary.
