Illegal Promotion of Viagra in China

It was reported that the food and drug administration of the Pudong New Area of Shanghai confiscated 3 million yuan (US$468,000) in illegally obtained earnings from Pfizer and issued a 100,000 yuan (US$15,600) fine for improperly paying promotion fees to four major pharmacies to promote Viagra in the country. It was alleged that, from 2011 to 2013, Pfizer paid the pharmacies approximately $145,000 to promote Viagra, in violation of China’s drug administration law.
