Bautista v. Valero Energy Corporation (Unfair Business Practices)

Plaintiffs in a California class-action lawsuit accuse Valero and its CST Brands subsidiary of unfair business practices for charging customers who pay for gasoline with debit cards the higher credit price rather than the lower advertised cash price. The lawsuit claims the practice of advertising a lower cash price but charging debit card users the higher credit price is misleading because a reasonable consumer believes that a debit card is the equivalent of cash.
