U.S. ex rel. Lawrence v. IBM (Fannie Mae False Claims)

William Lawrence alleges IBM and its loan servicing subsidiary, Seterus, defrauded the Federal National Mortgage Association (Fannie Mae) out of nearly $13 million by collecting bonuses for incomplete work in 2011 and 2012. Lawrence claims IBM and Seterus submitted inappropriate expense reimbursement claims and overstated its work performance to Fannie Mae. Lawrence alleges Seterus submitted more than 25,000 claims of completed pre-foreclosure packages to Fannie Mae, of which only 42 percent were actually completed.
