Vezeau, et al. v. Pfizer (Vfend False Claims)

Two former Pfizer employees allege the company illegally marketed the anti-fungal medication Vfend (voriconazole) for off-label use and submitted millions of dollars in false claims to the government. The suit alleges Pfizer made false statements in connection with its new drug applications for and marketing of Vfend. Pfizer allegedly used bogus documents, including false submissions to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and false marketing materials, in order to be reimbursed under the Medicare, Medicaid and military health care programs. The lawsuit also alleges Pfizer paid doctors to write articles advocating off-label use of Vfend, and that the company paid kickbacks to physicians and pharmacists in order to increase sales of Vfend.
