Gonzalez v. CoreCivic (Forced Labor at Immigrant Detention Facilities)

Martha Gonzalez alleges CoreCivic is violating the federal Trafficking in Victims Protection Act through the use of forced labor at immigrant detention centers throughout the country. Gonzalez claims she was required to work at three different detention facilities in Texas under threat of isolation, retaliation and other deprivations. She also alleges detainees who volunteered for work were paid $1 to $2 per day, which was only redeemable at the detention centers’ stores, or were not paid at all.
