Violations of Clean Water Act (Texas)

On January 9, 2006, Exxon Mobil and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) agreed to settle a complaint that “alleged violations of the Clean Water Act at Hawkins Field (in Wood County, Texas) related to 13 spills of produced water into potential waters of the United States occurring June 2000 to August 2004." Exxon Mobil agreed to pay a $31,000 civil penalty and to perform a supplemental environmental project valued at $91,000.
